Austria, the country at the heart of Europe - [September 12, 2025] - JFJ Aviation & Defence GmbH proudly announces its strategic partnership with the Czech-American technology company Vrgineers to jointly develop an unrestricted version of a 5th generation fighter simulator that sets new standards in immersive pilot training and defense simulation.
The simulator's cockpit will be equipped with Vrgineers' proprietary electronics and will be fully integrated with the Somnium VR1 and XTAL CAVU mixed reality systems. This state-of-the-art configuration will enable advanced pilot simulations, mission rehearsals and technology demonstrations in a fully immersive environment.
This is the first direct collaboration between JFJ and Vrgineers, with both companies combining their respective strengths to provide affordable, high-accuracy simulation solutions to defense and aerospace customers. The partnership aims to accelerate innovation by leveraging joint expertise in cockpit design, mixed reality integration and simulation hardware.
"We are very pleased to be working with Vrgineers on this innovative training facility," said Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Johann Schwandtner, Managing Director of JFJ Aviation & Defence GmbH. "This cockpit is part of our growing portfolio of customized enclosures designed to meet the evolving needs of simulation platforms in NATO and allied countries."
The project reflects the commitment of both companies to modernize the simulation market, which has long relied on outdated technologies such as flat screens and simple projection systems. By introducing unrestricted mixed reality capabilities, the simulator will provide pilots with a more realistic and responsive training experience.
"This partnership brings together two highly experienced teams that complement each other in a remarkable way," said Marek Polčák, CEO of Vrgineers. "We look forward to introducing this and other next-generation simulators that will emerge from our joint efforts."
The unrestricted 5th Generation Fighter Simulator is expected to be unveiled at upcoming defense shows, where it will showcase the future of pilot training and readiness.
