JFJ is proud to announce the successful completion and handover of the ergoHI² altitude simulation system to the Austrian Armed Forces (ÖBH). The system, which was developed to support the elite training of the athletes of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV), is now fully operational at the Training and Exercise Center (TÜPl) Hochfilzen.
The new system is primarily used by the ÖSV biathlon team, but is also available to Ski Austria athletes for advanced altitude training.
The project included the installation and commissioning of a large multifunctional training room and four special dormitories that enable both active and passive normobaric hypoxia exposure. In these rooms, the athletes can train and regenerate under controlled altitude conditions. These conditions are realistically simulated as in high mountain regions.
With the ergoHI² system, JFJ provides advanced altitude simulation technology that combines military infrastructure with state-of-the-art sports science. This collaboration between ÖBH, ÖSV and JFJ improves the training conditions for Austria's top endurance athletes and strengthens the country's leading role in the field of winter sports innovation.
"We are proud to have successfully completed this project and handed over the system to the Austrian armed forces," said Josef Joachimbauer, CEO of JFJ. "The new facility in Hochfilzen offers the biathletes and endurance athletes of the ÖSV world-class conditions for altitude training and regeneration - a perfect example of how innovation supports human performance."
The completed facility in Hochfilzen is a milestone in Austria's continuous investment in performance science and athlete development.
